Professional Training & Certification FAQ

Find answers to your questions about our Yoga Alliance-approved certifications and specialized courses. Whether you are pursuing your 200-HR RYT, 300-HR RYT, or a specialty RCYT designation, we are here to support your professional evolution.

Are these courses recognized by Yoga Alliance?

Yes. Donna K Freeman is a 500 E-RYT and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). All core certifications—including the 200 HR, 300 HR, and RCYT programs—meet or exceed Yoga Alliance standards. Hours earned through our specialized courses can also be applied as Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to maintain your professional standing.

What professional yoga certifications do you offer?

We provide a comprehensive pathway for professional growth, including 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) foundational training, 300-hour advanced RYT certifications, and the specialized Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) designation. These are complemented by specialized courses in meditation and trauma informed yoga to ensure a well-rounded pedagogical expertise.

Can I pursue a 200- hour RYT, 300-hour RYT or RCYT online?

Our Professional Mastery certifications are designed with a hybrid approach to accommodate a global community. While we offer intensive in-person sessions in the St. Albert and Edmonton area, our 200 HR, 300 HR, and RCYT pathways are accessible through our interactive online platform, ensuring high-level training is available wherever you are.

Can I bundle specialized courses toward a full certification?

Absolutely. Many of our specialized modules, including our youth-focused wellness courses, serve as building blocks for the Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) designation or your 300-hour advanced training. This modular approach allows you to customize your education to fit your schedule while building toward a globally recognized credential.

What I Wish I’d Known as a New Yoga Teacher

10 Things I Wish I Knew

Becoming a new yoga instructor can feel equal parts magic and imposter syndrome. After 28 years on the mat, there are lessons that only time and teaching hundreds of bodies can reveal. Let these insights save you some of the doubt, hustle, and second-guessing

Teach Humans, Not Shapes

Your students are not here to perform; they are here to feel seen, safe, and supported. When you teach people rather than postures, you create a space where every body belongs and connection matters more than perfection.

Embrace The Awkward

You will say left when you mean right, trip over Sanskrit, and forget your own sequence. Laugh it off, breathe, and keep going. Your humanity is often what relaxes your students the most.

“I Don’t Know” Is Holy

You are a guide, not a guru, and it is okay not to have every answer on the spot. Admitting you do not know and staying curious keeps you grounded, trustworthy, and always evolving as a teacher.

Own Your Unique Vibe

The world does not need another copy of your favorite teacher; it needs your lived experience and authentic expression. When you trust your natural rhythm and language, you attract the students who are meant for you.

Presence Is The Real Cue

Students will remember how it felt to be in your class long after they forget your clever wording. When you show up fully present, regulated, and attentive, your energy does more healing than the “perfect” alignment script ever could.

From Class List To Yoga Family

Taking time to greet people, learn names, and check in after class builds trust and belonging. Community keeps students coming back, not just your playlist or sequencing.

Protect Your Teaching Flame

Saying yes to every class and every request is the fastest path to resentment and exhaustion. Teach in ways and settings that nourish you, and give yourself permission to rest and recalibrate when your body or spirit asks.

Sharing Is Service

Talking about your classes, trainings, and offerings is how the people who need you can actually find you. When you show up online with honesty and heart, marketing becomes an extension of your teaching, not a performance.

Your Impact Isn’t Measured In Hours

Whether you teach one class a week or ten, you are changing nervous systems and lives. You do not need a full-time schedule or a “hustle badge” to claim your role as a real yoga teacher.

Your Love Is The Magic

Every time you walk into the room prepared, caring, and grounded, you are already doing it right. Perfect cueing, complex sequences, and full classes are secondary to the love and integrity you bring.
