Guided forest bathing events in St. Albert, Alberta

Forest bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, is the Japanese practice of immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the trees to support your mental and physical well-being. These sessions are for anyone looking to step away from the digital noise and find a moment of peace and presence. The diverse wetlands and quiet woodlands of Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park provide a beautiful local sanctuary for this practice, offering a tranquil space for us to move, breathe, and simply be.

Why Join Us in the Forest

Forest Bathing in St. Albert is a guided mindfulness experience that blends nature connection, gentle movement, breath awareness, and nervous system support in one of Alberta’s most beautiful natural spaces. These sessions invite you to slow down and reconnect with yourself through the healing rhythms of nature.

Unlike a traditional hike or fitness class, Forest Bathing is intentionally slow and accessible. You’ll be guided through simple practices that help calm stress, improve presence, and create a deeper sense of grounding. Many participants describe feeling clearer, lighter, calmer, and more connected after spending time outdoors in mindful community.

Rooted in Experience

My connection to Forest Bathing comes from decades of lived experience with mindfulness, movement, and nature connection.

I lived in Japan for three years, where I experienced firsthand the cultural value of slowing down, seasonal living, and finding calm through nature. Back home in Alberta, I’ve spent years exploring the trails and wetlands around St. Albert and Edmonton, developing a deep appreciation for the restorative power of our local landscapes.

What exactly is Forest Bathing?

Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, is not a hike, a naturalist walk, or an exercise session. It is a slow, guided sensory immersion in nature. Using the 3B Method, I lead you through a series of “invitations” to help you slow your pace and open your senses. The goal is to move out of your analytical brain and into a restorative, somatic connection with the wooded parklands around us.

Is Forest Bathing the same as hiking?

No. Forest Bathing is very different from hiking. We move slowly, pause often, and focus on being present rather than covering distance. The experience is gentle, accessible, and designed for nervous system support, stress reduction, and mindfulness.

Do I need any experience to attend?

Not at all. These walks are designed for everyone, regardless of fitness level or mindfulness experience. We move at a very slow, intentional pace to help the body settle. The terrain at Lois Hole Provincial Park is mostly flat, though we will follow a natural woodland path with some roots and uneven ground to navigate. I provide full guidance so you can stay present and let the forest do the rest.

What should I bring to a Forest Bathing session?

Because our weather in the Edmonton area can change quickly, I recommend dressing in layers. Even on warm days, the shade of the trees can be cool. Please bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes or boots.

  • A water bottle.

  • A light jacket or sweater.

  • An open mind and a willingness to slow down.

What if it rains?

We practice rain or shine, as the sound and scent of a light rain can actually deepen the sensory experience. Please dress in layers and bring a waterproof jacket so you can stay cozy and present. If the forecast calls for extreme or unsafe weather, we will reschedule the walk and I will contact you directly to move your booking.

Where do the walks take place in St. Albert?

Our guided sessions are held at Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park. This beautiful park on the edge of St. Albert and Edmonton offers a diverse ecosystem of wetlands and old-growth trees. It provides a perfect sanctuary for nervous system regulation and nature connection without having to travel far from home.
